Families can be our greatest source of support and love, but also can be our greatest source of stress and pain! Families can be torn apart by violence, substance abuse, illness, death, divorce, differences in parenting styles, and a myriad of other issues and events that create stress and conflict.
Family therapy can help members understand and improve family dynamics and assist in identifying and resolving conflicts. In therapy, we will examine your family’s ability to solve problems and individual members’ abilities to express thoughts, feelings, and wants. Everyone’s voice will be heard. We may explore family roles, rules, and behavior in order to ascertain what triggers conflict. Then, we can begin to work on changing these dynamics. When one member of a ‘system’ changes, the system dynamics will be changed as well!
